Fractions

Hi Year 3,
Wow, what a fantastic first full week back! Last week we flew through place value and saw some fabulous work that led to some excellent problem solving. Well done guys, keep it up! This week we are going to move on to fractions. You touched on fractions in year 2, however now we are in year 3, let’s step it up that little bit!

Fraction Matcher

Here is an excellent fractions matching game at different levels of difficulty. There is an option to play the games against the clock and also with mixed whole numbers and fractions. Have a go and let us know how you get on! Enjoy!

Prior Learning Activity

Hi Year 3,
We hope you have had a fabulous Christmas break and are ready and refreshed for a new year and a fresh topic! In Mathematics, we are going to begin by looking at place value which you should all be fantastic at as we have had a little look at it before. This topic focuses on identifying the greater and smaller number in a set of numbers and ordering numbers from smallest to biggest.
Have a little look at the numbers below and see if you can put them in the correct order

564 456 546 654 465 645

When you have completed that, look at the number 345.
Can you partition it?
What is the greatest number you can make using all three digits?
What is the smallest number you can make?

Have fun Year 3!
